Clear information before you decide.
Before your first appointment, you will receive the current fee, any expected rebate or funding arrangement, payment timing and cancellation terms in writing. You are welcome to ask questions before agreeing to book.
Current fees
Individual counselling is $220 for a 50-minute session. Fees for longer sessions, EMDR intensives, breathwork, workshops, reports, letters or travel are provided before you agree to the service.
Funding pathways
Services may be available through:
Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plans
Victims Services NSW
Victims Services ACT
Open Arms — Veterans & Families Counselling
PSS (Psychological Support Services)- referral via GP
self-funded therapy.
Ali is an approved counsellor with Victims Services NSW and ACT and works with Open Arms. Eligibility, approvals, session limits, rebates and reporting requirements are set by the relevant program and may change. Please confirm your approval, the service covered and any out-of-pocket cost before the first appointment.
Medicare
As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, Ali may provide eligible services under a Mental Health Treatment Plan. You will need a valid referral and sufficient sessions available to claim a rebate. A Medicare rebate usually does not cover the full fee, so there may be a gap payment.
EMDR intensive payments
Medicare rebates do not currently cover EMDR intensives. Payment plans are available. The total fee, deposit, instalment schedule, inclusions and refund terms will be provided before you book.
Cancellations and changes
A regular appointment time is reserved for you. Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or move a session. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, and non-attendance without notice, may incur the full session fee. Medicare rebates are generally not available for missed appointments.
If sufficient notice is provided, an appointment can be rescheduled without charge. Emergencies and unforeseen circumstances are considered case by case. Please contact the practice as soon as you can.
Financial accessibility
If cost is a barrier, you are welcome to ask whether any lower-fee spaces, less frequent appointments or alternative services are currently available. Availability cannot be guaranteed, but the conversation is welcome and will be handled respectfully.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
What does EMDR stand for?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing.
Do I have to talk about my trauma in detail?
No. While we identify the experiences that continue to impact you, EMDR does not require detailed retelling of traumatic events.
How many sessions will I need?
There is no universal answer. Some people experience significant change within a relatively short period of time, while others with complex trauma may benefit from longer-term therapy.
Is EMDR evidence-based?
Yes. EMDR is recognised internationally as an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and trauma-related difficulties.
Can EMDR help with childhood trauma?
Yes. Many people seek EMDR for childhood trauma, attachment wounds and adverse childhood experiences.
Can EMDR help with dissociation?
Yes. However, additional preparation and stabilisation are often required before trauma processing begins.
What if I don't remember much of my childhood?
This is very common in trauma survivors. EMDR can still be effective.
Will I lose control during EMDR?
No. You remain present, aware and in control throughout the process.
What if I become overwhelmed?
Part of preparation involves building strategies and resources to help you manage distress. We work within your window of tolerance.
-
Are intensives suitable for everyone?
No. An assessment is completed before booking to ensure an intensive is appropriate.
How long is an intensive?
Most intensives run for approximately six hours with breaks included.
Will I process multiple memories?
This depends on your goals, history and nervous system capacity.
What if I become tired afterwards?
Many clients report feeling emotionally and physically tired after intensive processing. We discuss aftercare and integration before the intensive concludes.
Can I claim an intensive through Medicare?
At present, Medicare rebates do not cover EMDR Intensives.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Payment plans are available for intensives.

What is conscious connected breathwork?
Conscious connected breathwork uses a continuous breathing pattern, connecting the inhale and exhale without deliberate pauses. I guide the practice through a trauma-informed lens, with attention to your consent, boundaries and pace.
What does trauma-informed mean in these sessions?
It means we make room for your history and how you respond in the moment. I explain the practice, offer choices and check in throughout. You can change your breathing, keep your eyes open, pause or stop at any time.
What happens during a session?
We begin with time to settle, discuss the practice and ask questions. I then guide the breathing experience, offering support along the way. We finish with time to return to your usual breathing, rest and reflect on what you noticed.
Do I need any experience?
No previous experience is needed. I’ll explain the breathing pattern and guide you throughout. Before booking, we’ll also consider whether this practice and the session setting are appropriate for you.
What might I experience?
Experiences vary. Conscious connected breathwork can feel physically and emotionally activating. You may notice emotions, changes in awareness or physical sensations. There is no particular experience you need to achieve.
If you notice dizziness, tingling or discomfort, let me know so we can pause or adjust the practice.
Do I need to have an emotional release?
No. You don’t need to cry, express strong emotions or have a breakthrough. A quieter experience is equally welcome. We work with what you notice rather than trying to produce a particular response.
What if I feel overwhelmed?
You can stop the connected breathing and return to your usual breathing at any point. I can support you to reconnect with your surroundings and consider what you need next. If you experience panic, flashbacks or dissociation, please contact me before booking so we can discuss suitability and support.
Is conscious connected breathwork suitable for everyone?
No. Suitability needs to be considered individually. Please discuss your medical history, medications and mental health with me before booking, including pregnancy, heart or respiratory conditions, blood pressure concerns or a history of seizures.
Some circumstances may require advice from your treating health professional, a different breathing practice or postponing participation.
Will I need to share my trauma history?
No. You can tell me what would help you feel supported without sharing the details of what happened. Sharing in a group is always optional.
Is this the same as trauma therapy?
A breathwork session offers a different kind of support from individual trauma therapy. It may sit alongside counselling or EMDR, but it does not replace medical or psychological treatment.
Do you offer individual and group sessions?
Yes. Individual sessions allow more space to tailor the experience and discuss your needs. Group sessions offer a shared, guided practice. If you’re unsure which setting would suit you, you’re welcome to contact me.
Will photos or videos be taken?
I do not photograph or film participants during breathwork sessions. Your privacy matters, and you can participate without being concerned about appearing on social media.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear comfortable clothing and bring water. Any other items, along with details about the venue and setup, will be outlined before your session.

Do you work with people who have a public profile?
Yes.
I work with people from a range of professional backgrounds, including business owners, executives, healthcare professionals, first responders, legal professionals, creatives, athletes, and people with a public or online presence.
I have a large social media following. Will that change how therapy works?
No.
Therapy remains a confidential, professional space regardless of your public profile. My focus is on understanding your experiences, goals and wellbeing, not your public identity.
What if I am concerned about privacy?
Privacy and confidentiality are fundamental to therapeutic work.
Many people I work with hold positions of responsibility within their communities, workplaces or industries and may have concerns about being recognised or discussing sensitive personal experiences.
I take confidentiality seriously and provide a discreet, professional environment where clients can speak openly and safely.
Do you work with therapists, social workers and helping professionals?
Yes.
Many helping professionals seek therapy themselves. Working in caring professions can be rewarding, but it can also bring unique challenges including burnout, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma and difficulties prioritising your own needs.
Do you work with leaders and executives?
Yes.
Many people in leadership positions spend their lives supporting others, making difficult decisions, and carrying significant responsibility. Therapy can provide a confidential space to process stress, trauma, grief, relationship challenges and personal growth away from professional demands.
Can therapy help with the impact of public scrutiny or online criticism?
Yes.
For people with a public profile, online visibility can bring unique pressures. Therapy can support the processing of anxiety, self-doubt, burnout, shame, harassment, boundary difficulties and the emotional impact of being visible in public spaces.
Will you acknowledge me if we see each other in public?
To protect your privacy and confidentiality, I will not initiate contact if we happen to see one another outside of therapy. You are always welcome to acknowledge me first if you choose.
