EMDR Intensives

Sometimes a standard session
does not give the work enough room.

An EMDR intensive is an extended therapy appointment designed to create more uninterrupted time for assessment, preparation and focused processing. It may suit people who find that weekly sessions end just as they are settling into the work, have a specific target to address, or need a different format because of work, caring or travel.

An intensive is not ‘more therapy squeezed into one day’, and it is not a promise of faster healing. The pace is shaped around your capacity, goals and safety. Breaks, food, movement and time to settle are part of the plan.

What is an EMDR Intensive?

An EMDR Intensive is an extended therapy experience designed to support focused trauma processing.

Intensives may be particularly beneficial if:

• You have a specific trauma you'd like to address
• You live outside the Wollongong area
• You have limited availability for weekly therapy
• You have reached a plateau in therapy
• You would like to dedicate focused time to healing

What Is Included?

Your intensive includes:

• Comprehensive assessment and treatment planning
• Preparation and resourcing
• EMDR processing
• Integration and nervous system regulation
• Follow-up support session

Is An Intensive Right For Me?

Longer is not always safer or more effective. An intensive may need to be postponed or adapted if you are in acute crisis, have significant current instability, do not have enough support afterwards, are experiencing medical issues that affect participation, or need more time to build trust and preparation.

Dissociation does not automatically rule out an intensive, but it may require a longer assessment, additional preparation, a shorter format or ongoing therapy first.

Choose the Intensive that Suits Your Needs

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to intensive therapy. These options provide different amounts of time and space, depending on your needs, readiness and previous therapeutic work.

5-Hour EMDR Intensive

For existing clients only

A focused intensive for existing clients who would benefit from additional time and support beyond a standard therapy session. Available online or in person.

10-Hour EMDR Intensive

A two-day program

For people wanting more time, spacious pacing and opportunities for rest and integration between sessions. The intensive is delivered across two days, allowing us to explore your goals without trying to fit everything into a single day.

Investment: $4,999

Accommodation not included.

New and existing clients

Existing clients may already have much of the shared history and preparation needed. New clients usually require additional assessment before an intensive can be confirmed. If you have another therapist, communication occurs only with your written consent and with clear agreement about roles, safety and follow-up.

Location and practical details

Intensives can take place in Wollongong, selected retreat settings or online, where clinically appropriate.

Before you book, we’ll talk through the location, room setup, privacy, travel, meals, any accessibility needs and overnight arrangements. You’ll have space to ask questions and decide whether the setting feels right for you.

Aftercare

Plan for a quieter period after the intensive where possible. Avoid scheduling demanding work, long drives or major decisions immediately afterwards. We will discuss what support is available, what to do if distress increases and when the follow-up session will occur.

Medicare rebates do not currently cover EMDR intensives. Payment plans are available; the full fee, deposit, instalment dates and cancellation terms will be provided in writing before booking.
